Ha, I was thinking the same as everybody else, $230 for 4, what a deal..
There are few advantages in getting separate rims for winters tires:
- cost less the long run, installation is cheaper for tires on rims
- and you don't have to rebalance at every changeover, which saves time and cost
- keep your nicer looking alloy wheels aways from salt
- it's easier to change by yourslef if garages are getting too busy
Just had my winter tires installed at Costco yesterday, went there 45 min. before they opened the door, was 3rd in line, so not too bad..

Costco usually has the best price for brand name tires,e.g Michelin X-ice; but you'll need membership to purchase in store, however, you can make online purchase without membership, but you have to pay 5% premmium.
If you are not a member and are looking for economical alternatives, I suggest Magna from Walmart, they've received quite good reviews and generally cost a lot less than any name brands like Michelin or Dunlop.
You can also check out Canadian Tire too as they still have sales going on now with Goodyear Nordics.
