Of course every citizen has the right to choose, the right to work, the right to live the way they want, the right to do anything they want! You are the right not to learn french, but you just lose your chance of job opportunity, chance of promotion, chance of acquiring another asset..:-D

I wouldn't call those exactly 'rights' though.

But you are right about what I will be/ or am losing if I don't learn French:(
 
因双语政策而头痛的大有人在,不仅仅是个针对某些族裔移民的问题,例如:许多法裔人士因英文不好而得不到政府工作或失去升迁机会;许多英裔人士因法文不好而得不到政府工作或失去升迁机会;联邦政府需要支付大笔语言培训经费(最近有关收紧双语要求的人事政策变动主要动机相信就是为了节省这方面的开支);等等。另外,我也不觉得这与民主有多少关系,而更与加拿大的特定历史文化政治背景有关。

就个人体会而言,最最消耗时间精力的并不是去做任何一件事情,而是被挫折感所困、难以自拔,寻找各种理由不去做某件事。我在这种时候最需要的是鼓励,所以我也想鼓励你一下,希望你能尽快把le mal de tête抛在脑后--那样的话,说谢谢的就是我了。
 
如果我决定学法语肯定是因为喜欢,而不是为了找工作。 找工作也不一定就非要找政府工。

Have faith in yourself, Rome wasn't built in a day! After all, it took a baby 3 years to talk 'meaningfully' and longer to communicate, am sure we can all do better than that.. :glowface:

别说政府工作,就连文科硕士也是要求懂法语才能毕业地。 :)
没办法,这里很多文件资料都是法语的。
政府定的规矩,大家来的时候也应该都知道那前总理那“著名”的加拿大国家定义吧.
只要工作赚钱,不用会法语。
要升官发财,成统治阶级的一份子,当然需要法语。(不会怎么“统治”那些说法语的类) :D
