1942 Chinese Map with Tibet from US government

1942 Chinese Map with Tibet from US government

The following map of China was published in "Pocket Guide to China"

issued to all American troops that were to fight on the Pacific after Japan attacked Pearl Harbor. It was published by the War and Navy Departments in Washington, D.C.
Please note that the booklet was published in 1942, long before the so-called "Chinese invasion of Tibet" in 1951 after the founding of the People's republic of China in 1949.

The line on the above image reads: "U. S. Government Printing Office: 1942 - O-494184."

Please look at the first map of China:

In this map, China and America were put in the same picture. The entire Tibetan region, which is the Southwest part of China, is included in China.

Now, let's look at the second map:

The map reads "China and the Pacific". Again, in this booklet which taught American troops what China looks like, Tibet is included as part of China.

In fact, one can easily pick any encyclopedia published in the United States before 1951, the year of alleged "Chinese invasion of Tibet", and search for China, and he would find out that Tibet was included as part of China.

For those who knew little about Tibet, here are some facts to remember:

  • Tibet officially became part of China around 1288, the year when Chinese government set up the Ministry of Xuan Zheng ( 宣政院)to rule over Tibet and be in charge of the Buddhist issues in entire China, including Tibet.
  • From then on, Tibet was under Chinese rule for three imperial dynasties, Yuan, Ming and Qing, and two republics, Republic of China and People's Republic of China.
  • It was the Chinese Qing dynasty (1644-1912) which promoted Dalai Lama and Pancheng Lama to the status of de facto religious leaders of Tibet. After that, every Dalai Lama and Pancheng Lama had to be confirmed by the Chinese government to assume their official titles.
  • The Chinese Qing government had the authority to abolish the title of Dalai Lama, and did this at least once in the 18th century, when the Dalai Lama was found to be raping several hundreds of Tibetan women.
  • China also defended its Tibet from the invasion of Nepal in the 18th century. The great Chinese army led by general Fu Kangan (福康安) rescued the Dalai Lama and restored him back to Lasha after fighting the army from Nepal.
  • The current 14th Dalai Lama was confirmed by the government of Republic of China. His crowning festival was presided over by the Chinese official Wu Zhongxin (吴忠信) of Republic of China in 1940.
To sum up, Tibet before 1951 was part of China. The Americans before 1951 also thought it was part of China. During the chaotic years after 1912, China was controlled by many war lords, each have effective control over a certain region. For instance, China's ShanXi province (山西省) was ruled by warlord Yan Xishan (阎锡山), Guangxi province (广西省) was controlled by Li Zhongren (李宗仁), and Tibet by the Dalai Lama. All these warlords, including the Dalai Lama, controlled a piece of Chinese land. But they were not ruling over a separate country.

Such a situation started to change since 1945. The victory of the allied forces of America, USSR, China and England tilted the balance between the warlords. During the ensuing civil war, one by one, the areas controlled by different warlords fell to either the Nationalist government led by Chiang Kai-shek (蒋中正) or the Communist government led by Mao Zedong (毛泽东). In 1949, Chiang was defeated, and took his remaining troops to China's Taiwan province (台湾省). In 1951, the last warlord on mainland China, the current Dalia Lama, sent a telegram to the Beijing, admitting the leadership of the central government over Tibet, and swore to "protect the unification and sovereign of our motherland" ... "under the leadership of ... Central People's government." (in the original words of the current 14th Dalai Lama).

“China and Canada are friends “;“ Let China and Canada be brothers“ 完全是一厢情愿。 用英文google 一下 “china", 你就会证实西方对中国的敌视。

3。英语必须地道, 不然一开口很难对西人有说服力。

Try not bully 1.3 billion chinese 不是正确的英语。
Be careful, our vote will speak our voice. 也值得商榷。 意思不大清楚。 你想威胁谁? vote for what? against what?

比如, 如果你说:

Stop bullying 1.3 billion Chinese!

Vote Happer out!

是不是就意思更清楚,句子更简洁谢?

千万别介意,仅作参考!

What do you want from us?

http://bbs.comefromchina.com/forum140/thread557972.html

What do you want from us?

When we were called "sick man of Asia”, we were called peril.
When we billed to be the next superpower, we're called the threat

When we closed our doors, you smuggled drugs to open markets.
when we embrace free trade, you blame us for taking away your jobs.

when we're falling apart, you marched in your troops and wanted your fair share.
when we're putting the broken pieces together, “Free Tibet” you screamed! “it was invasion.”

So we tried communism, you hated us for being communist.
So we embraced capitalism, you hate us for being capitalist,

Then we have a billion people, you said we're destroying the planet.
Then we limit our numbers, you said it was human rights abuses.

When we were poor, you think we're dogs,
When we loan you cash, you blamed us for your debts.

When we build our industries, you called us polluters.
When we sell you goods, you blamed us for global warming,
When we buy oil, you called that exploitation and genocide.

When we were lost in chaos and rampage, you wanted rule s of laws for us.
When we uphold law and order against violence, you called that violation of human rights.

When we were silent, you said you want us to have free speech.
When we were silent no more, you say we were brainwashed.

Why do you hate us so much? We asked. “No”. You answered, “we don't hate you”.
We don't hate you either Bud, do you understand us?? “of course we do”, you said, “We have CNN, BBC, and CBC”.

But why, we still feel, your western people are not happy with us.
What do you really want from us??
my friend, What do you really want from us??

Here is a well written article from Mr. S.B. Woo (former Lt. Gov. of DE) :

Dalai Lama is empowered in politics and religion

To most Americans, Dalai Lama is a Tibetan "Buddhist" "monk" who has been driven out of Tibet by the atheist communist party in China. Although he is injecting politics into Olympics, we decide to cut him a break.

Here are some facts that we should consider, because we have other values besides rooting for the underdog, if indeed that Dalai Lama is an underdog.

To Americans, the word "Buddhism" connotes a religion that is so spiritual that it tries to cleanse love in order to avoid being possessive. Quite to the contrary, Tibetan Buddhism is a theocracy. Dalai Lama is "supreme in both temporal and spiritual matters." That is, he was the ruler of Tibet, ruling over a serf society that had slaves. So distinguish the Buddhism you know from the Tibetan Buddhism under Dalai Lama.

To Americans, the word "monk" conjures up the image of a person living in harsh conditions while serving the poor and the weak. Tibetan monks made up the privileged ruling class that lives on the backs of the serfs. So when they led protests, they could be looking to return to their "old glory."

There are two Lamas in the Tibetan Buddhism. Dalai Lama and Panchen
Lama. Panchen Lama is also "supreme in spiritual matters." So in spiritual matters, Dalai has a co-equal. China has always recognized Panchen Lama, though some claimed that the selection of Panchen was manipulated by China.

Now ask: Is Dalai Lama motivated by restoring Tibetan culture or his power? I'd say, primarily power, but perhaps both. So don't blindly take his side. Check things out a bit.

Our un-informed position-taking based on erroneous perception will weaken the democratic movement in China and strengthen Chinese people's suspicion of the Western world.

S. B. Woo
Lieutenant Governor (1985-89)

文学城网友给西方媒体的一封公开信! (图)

To Whom It May Concern:

Shame on you CNN/ABS/NBC/CBS/FOX/BBC!

It is so obvious that all media in the Western world are so biased against China and Chinese people, that you have no brain to understand the history and no courage to tell the truth.

When there were thousands of pro-China and pro-Olympic demonstrators showed their supports towards a peaceful torch carrying relay in San Francisco, all you cared and covered was the noise from a small group of pro-Tibet independence people who violated the law by climbing the Golden Gate Bridge and mocked the spirit of Olympic in the name of freedom.

In your coverage, you intentionally mislabeled the pro-China and pro-Olympic supporters as "protesters".

When Dalai Lama said he supported Olympic game in Beijing all the way, you only reported his second part of the statement that no one can tell the pro-Tibet demonstrators to shut up.

No wonder the first thing that Chinese government did when the riots stared in Lhasa was to kick you out.

Let’s set the facts straight once for all:

1. Tibet is part of China for thousands years, Tibetan people ARE Chinese people. When they travel abroad, they carry Chinese passport. Even Dalai Lama himself has said it so many times that Tibet is part of China . If Dalai Lama admits himself that he is a Chinese, what is your problem?

2. We all have seen what happened in London and Paris. Those so called “peaceful demonstrators for the freedom of Tibet” acted exactly like terrorists. They fought against local law enforcements and attacked athletes who carried the torch, including a girl who was sitting on a wheelchair. What makes you think that those monks in Lhasa were just peacefully expressing their freedom of speech? Those are the same terrorist typed people who started the riots, are your media people just blind or you don’t dare to report the truth?

3. It is wrong to associate politics with Olympic. Those dirty politicians want to have their hands on anything they can touch to show the world that they are actually decent and caring advocates of human rights. Let me ask you a question: What about the right of athletes around the world who have worked so hard to represent their countries in Beijing and earn the medals of their dreams and be proud for the rest of their life? What about the rights of 1.3 billion Chinese people to witness the biggest sport event in the history of China, and be proud to be part of it by embracing the world ?

Further more, when you say "Free Tibet", how exactly are you planning to liberate a Chinese land from China? Are you going to send your troops to China? Are you willing to go nuclear war with China?

It is time for you left-wing media liberals to tell the truth as it is.

Misleading your readers and audiences will only lead you to the bottom of the sea of ignorance. One day, you will find that no one will read your papers or watch your TV programs any more, not because you have nothing to offer, but because you have been offering nonsense to us and forcing your garbage down our throats!

Enough is enough!!!

Sincerely,

NOSO
