:D

Not all Kanata communities are safe. Like this week's crime stats, there are several reports about the break and enter, robbery in Glen Cairn area, especially the Morton Dr area.

If you think ahead of your kids education, Kanata Lake is the best choice. The desinated high school is the Earl March, which is in the top 2 of all public high schools.

It may not be a bad idea to buy a house or an apartment in downtown. The potential of appreciation of your house is higher. Ottawa is relatively safe place. Only place here you want to avoid may be Vanier.

OC Transpo Transit Map

Do you mean Earl of March Secondary School?

Basically, your lifestyle determines where and either a house, townhouse or condo you would like to buy.
Downtown is more suitable to professionals, young couple, small family without kids (or one). It is convenient to everything, even walk to work. It is an urban living lifestyle. You will enjoy all amenities around, bars, cafes, museums, all kinds of outdoor events, festivals, etc. However, it is very expensive to buy a house, (town house is less pricey) tax will be high…. Condo is another alternative, you pay condo fee, but you don’t need to take care of lawn and you could enjoy the facilities such as gym/swimming pool.
It is unfair to say if Barrhaven, Orleans or Kanata is better than others, there are good and bad spots / communities in these three regions. You have to do your study. Bottom line, you have to like what you bought, everyonelse's opinion is just reference.

That's my original concern coz Black are tend to be French-speaking.

Lot of Federal Government employees are living in Orleans area. I means a lot. They are not nessary black as a matter of fact they are mostly white.

List your priorities for your house (transit, school, investiment...), do your own study and matching every of them one by one, Or list your priorities here (if not private). You will get honest and accurate suggestions. Once you have the result, you will have the answer.

One thing keep in mind, even you bought a house by totally wrong reason, it still is not end of the world... you always can sell it and buy anohter one.

I'm a federal government employee, and I live in Kanata. However, I don't think there is any difference living in Kanata or Orleans because it takes about the same amount of time getting to downtown core.

Your choice of location should be based on your priorities. If you have kids, pick an area that has good home school. But there is one thing for sure: a school is always better when there are more chinese students. Why? We chinese people pay more attention to the education of our kids. Hope this helps...

Thank you very much for your suggestions. BTW, actually my list of priorities was posted before:"...
My standard is : 1. easy access to rapid buses 2. safe 3. good elementary school..." :p
