Canadian Tire vs. 一抹黑 (Y.M.H AUTO)

This is my true story, write here for all interested:

In the evening of Feb. 13th, my car was no foot brake on the road. I have to ask CAA tow my car to nearby Canadian Tire. In the morning of Feb 14th, Canadian Tire called me and told me the repair charge need $1222 plus tax =$1380!!!!

I went to Canadian tire and got detail list for repair ---
Only one part need to be replaced – Brake lines $100, plus fittings, total $142. BUT, labour need $1080 ???!!!

It is very crazy! $100 part to only replace brake lines need more than 10 hours of $1080 labour??? I asked them and said it is not reasonable charge. Their answer is their charge like it, and said that ‘you cannot drive your car on road without brake, you must repair it, right?”

Of course I need fix my car but not in this way.

In that moment, I did my smart call to 一抹黑, he told me he could fix it for me and cost it only around $200!!!

So I did my another decision to ask CAA tow my car to 一抹黑, even I need pay extra cost for over 10km. Also, I had to pay $53 for Canadian Tire check fees.

Even it was a very busy day for 一抹黑, he and his team fixed my car in the same day. He just charged me $215 (tax included)!!! --- It is an unimaginable difference, lake Chinese often said --- one is in the sky and another on the earth!

Thank for 一抹黑!!! But too much unhappy with Canadian Tire’s unreasonable charge!

I did not have story with Y.M.H to share, but I do have a story with Canadian tire to say.

Last September, my car (VW Jetta VR6)'s power steering was broken and I only could drive to CT, as it is closed.

(1) It was replaced with new one about 1279$s.

(2) Later I found it is still oil leaking(I simply put paper on the ground to see). I guessed because still some oil on the botton, so it would take time to dry. But until Nov, it was the same issue. So I drove there again , they said they would fix. But it was still oil leaking..

(3) Becase the bad weather, there were ice on the bottom, so I drove to CT again around the new year. CT said no technical..

(4) I drove there again last week. (before I drove, I tested again. It was leaking).. But CT called me they could not find any problem and suggested me do some test else..They said my coolent?? has problem, but they could NOT fix it, because it is all covered/packaged (VR6). Charaged me about 78$

(5)I drove back home.So far (5 days), it is not leaking. It means what?? It means CT fixed the problem, BUT THEY DID NOT RECONGIZE IT.. whyyyyyyyyy?

Canadian Tire 是我去过的最差的修车的地方。

有一年冬天去换油，过了半个小时来个电话说，你的ABS坏了，CT修不了，得去Dealer修。我就纳闷了，我开着去的时候没感觉啊。赶快跑过去，问他怎么回事儿，他说车一启动ABS就不停的启动，不踩刹车也启动，自己开出去试了一下，才知道，他说的其实是因为停车场结冰，Traction Control在启动...这帮土鳖，没开过带Traction Control的车...

还有刚买车第一年，空调不工作（老爷车），去CT检查告诉我Receiver坏了，需要更换，大约需要$3xx，下午打个电话来说，在从Condenser上面拆卸Receiver的时候，因为锈的原因，把Condenser拧坏了，需要更换condenser，还得我出钱！总共$1000+，来来回回折腾了半天，说到经理那里，才说换condenser的Labour不用我出了，最后我还是花了$7xx才搞定。可惜啊，后来忘记了教训，还去那儿换油...

My suggestion is that simply don't bring your vehicle to Canadian Tire if there is any other alternative available at the time.

I checked with the dealer for fixing the problem of windsheld wipers. They could not move properply. The dealer quote me $600 and YMH fixed it for me only $125!

I am so relieved that I have found the best machenic in town!

There is a saying in English. You need 3 persons in your life, a good priest, a good accountant and a good lawyer. Maybe I should replace the priest with a good machenic.

CT is known as Crappie Tire. They over charge you with substandard service. Go to a local garage instead.

还敢去CANADIAN TIRE? 我做个ALIGNMENT被骗800刀

先告诉我做ALIGNMENT 只要150刀， 还给我做一大堆免费INSPECTION。完了告诉我做ALIGNMENT前必须修一些地方 900多刀（人工500，配件400多），给我打个打折扣，800还保税，他们发誓赌咒不先修那些地方，ALIGNMENT无法做，而且要出大事的，作为专业人士，也不会让我开车要出大事的车出门。因为我刚刚买的车，又根本不懂车，吓得屁股尿流，又有急事赶往蒙特利尔，咬牙掏了钱修。
到去了蒙特利尔后，找到了我认识的一修车朋友看看了修过的地方，朋友大喊你被骗了，说这种玩意换新配件人工100，配件100，加上ALIGNEMNT 300多可以搞定，而且根本不需要修
从此发誓不去CANADIAN TIRE ，即使他们给我发的免费换机油的赠票，我也不敢去了。
关于一抹黑的经验--------------------------------
优点： 1、老黑经验丰富，大部分问题不需要做INSPECTION可以查出问题，作出估价。
2、价钱 比外面便宜或差不多
3、中国人之间交流方便
缺点：强将手上无强兵，有一 两个修车师傅还可以，有几个技术不熟练，老出问题，让人无法放心

First time I met him after he moved to his new (now) location. After then, I went there a few times for some non-serious problem repaired. He always busy with numbers customers when I went there. I felt he is a good hand for car repairing. I also think he is a nice person too.

If you say "靠口碑" --- this is my 口碑 for 一抹黑. Why we cannot post our true story and say good words to a true feeling? It’s good to let others have a good chance to save money and get a good service, it is a good thing I am happy to do so I post "Canadian Tire vs. 一抹黑 " on CFC.

By a way, I can tell you I went to overseas many years ago, even in Canada more than 10 years so far. For me you are a “新来的”! I am older than 一抹黑. So you call 黑哥 but I just need call him 老黑。Until now, He may don't know my name. After fixed my Brake lines on Feb 14, I did not tell him I'll post this story on CFC. When I called him on Feb 18th, that's his first time to heard I posted a story about his garage.

In my experience,YMH is pretty good. Prices are always resonable. I am one of the 回头客 for about 5 years
