enjoy reading everyone's posts, they're valuable opinions. It seems children's happiness is the priority of most moms. I agree w/ that. I also agree that parents' education background does affect the they way they raise their children, no doubt about that. Like myself, my dad was a doctor backhome, he always wanted me to pick the same path, but I ended up being a nutritionist instead.(and now a stay-at home mom) Just like most of the moms I guess, I want my children succeed academically,(eg. attend good university), a good job, etc. 1/3 of my education was in china and 2/3 was in Canada. Yes, the other mom was right that schooling in China is too heavy and here is a bit too relax, 'coz difference in culture, values, discipline, etc..It would be nice to combine two together, pick the good ones. I also think that some parents have gone too far, sending their preschoolers/small kids to learn this and that, just too much on their shoulders that they can't even breathe. Sometime we as parents should see things from the kids' pt of view. There is a workshop called parenting in the Canadian Context, might be worth of going. P.S. I would tell my kids it's okay to play music and involve in art, etc. as hobbies, but they want a career, pick something that's practical and useful.
