Dear Madam:
On the evening of March 03,2003 at approximately 8:00pm I was awaken by the sound of dripping water. To my amassment, I found large quantities of water leaking from the ceiling into my kitchen. I immediately contacted the emergency number here at the building to report this incident. The gentleman who answered my call immediately came to evaluate the situation. Upon realizing that the water was coming from the ceiling, he proceeded to apartment 912. Upon his return he informed me that someone in the apartment 912 had been cleaning chicken and that they had been running a lot of water there by resulting in the water leaking into my apartment.
As a result of this incident I was forced to empty all my cupboard and wash and disinfect ( as I was informed that the water that was leaking was due to the washing of chickens I feared for salmonella contamination ) every item. I was also forced into discarding a basket of fruit that was on my counter as well as other food that had been made at the dinner and was cooling before refrigeration, as well as many other items.
After careful evaluation I have come up with the following costs incurred; $100.00 for cleaning services, $35.00 of food loss, and a conservative approximation for other lost items( paper napkins, candles, and salad bowl) $30.00. I there evaluate my loss at $165.00
I hope that this matter can be resolved as soon as possible.
