rogers 抢钱, how to do?

I registered with Rogers Hi-speed internet since Jan. 2008.

On Sep. 9/09 I applied rogers digital cable TV. On Sep. 26 morning, I asked adding BNN channel, they said I have to upgrade to VIP program and cost $98.77 (incl. internet, TV and tax). I said ok.

Last week, I got bill shows $130. I asked the reason. They said they made a mistake and I have to pay $120 per month. I said I will cancel both internet and TV. They said I had internet contract with them this August. I will get $200 penalty if terminate. I said I don't have the record, could you please show me evidence, either, my signature, your e-confirmation or voice mail? They said I agreeded on the phone.

Next day, they call me again, said I will pay penalty. I said if you want to keep me internet, I am ok. They said you already cancelled. You have to pay $200.

Anyone can tell me how to do it?

Take down the person's name/employee id and take it to their supervisor.
 
call them back and say that they misunderstood me and requested Rogers to get it fixed.

They are happy to keep you there.

But, be prepared and say it clearly.

I took everyone name I talked with, but I don't know if the lady is supervisor or not.

Yesterday, a lady who said she is a supervisor, told me I already gave them one month notice to terminate their service (to Dec. 6) so I can not keep with them. I have to pay $200 penalty. I said I don't have any contract with you and don't want to keep with you. I just do you a favor. Since you said you have disconnected my service, cannot keep and have to pay penalty. I will pay nothing.
I just wonder what will happen.
 
you'd better pay for that 200

If you don't pay for that amount, Roger would report to Credit Bureau with "bad debt written off", which will ruin your credit for at least 5 years.
So don't play with them. either pay that amount or contact the manager for investigation, such as ask them to show you recording for the agreement of the contract. That's the root of your case. If they couldn't provide that evidence, you might have chance to pay nothing.

By the way, if they told you over the phone that they made msitake, they should pay for that difference or neutron the contract. I don't get it why it's so hard to cancel your services. tell the manager who and when told you over the phone, ask them to check the recording...

不要意气用事,更不要因小失大。

如果你不付账,cannot settle this disbute properly, then you will pay a hefty penalty down the road such as higher mortgage rate etc.
 
It's about the art of negotiation. They won on the first negotiation so that they have the upper hand now. Try to take it as a lesson.

Did you or did you not agree to cancel the service with a $200 charge over the phone in that negotiation on the first day? That's the question now leading towards that 200$ charge.

If yes, then it's end of the story. I would pay that 200$ if I were you.
