聯合國(UN)於台灣時間昨晚（七月十九日）十一點，紐約時間（七月十九日）上午十一點鐘召開經濟社會理事會大會，會中正式通過「佛教慈濟基金會」(Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation)成為「聯合國經濟社會理事會非政府組織的特殊諮詢委員」（NGO in Special Consultative Status with ECOSOC)。美國慈濟基金會紐約分會執行長張濟舵出席這項大會，並將這項好消息傳回慈濟台灣總會。

聯合國經濟社會理事會這一次通過佛教慈濟基金會作為其特殊諮詢委員，是肯定慈濟在全球超過七十個國家的慈善與醫療等重大貢獻。特別是近年的海地、智利地震、四川地震、南亞海嘯等重大災難，慈濟志工都是走在最前，做到最後，以平等大愛的精神協助災後重建。[/FONT]

在全世界各重要的NGO組織當中，不乏具有基督教與回教精神的組織，而慈濟以務實的行動，將佛教的平等大愛散佈到全世界各個苦難的角落，這是具有其特殊的意義。
聯合國經濟社會理事會長期注意到慈濟在全球的慈善行動，這次賦予其特殊諮詢委員的地位，是希望借重慈濟在全球援助重建的經驗，提供聯合國與其他非政府組織諮詢與慈善行動模式之借鏡。
未來佛教慈濟基金會將獲准參與經濟社會理事會的各項會議，提供口頭與書面之建議。同樣的，慈濟在全球的慈善行動也將獲得聯合國的各相關組織之協助與必要之安全保護。
2010年慈濟志工在海地進行援助工作，受世界糧食計畫署之邀，以簡報檔向聯合國非政府組織成員，介紹慈濟在海地的賑災行動。（宗教處提供）
當這項消息宣佈後，美國總會透過越洋電話將訊息傳回人在台灣的慈濟全球志工總督導黃思賢，黃思賢並在台灣時間二十日清晨報告證嚴上人。上人感動聯合國經濟社會理事會給予的殊榮，也在今天早晨七點鐘向全球會眾開示：「慈濟人應肩負起無疆界眾生的責任，將全球發生的苦難都視為一己的使命，經由慈悲善行，體現佛陀無緣大慈的精神，將平等大愛廣披世界寰宇。」

Wow.. that's a lot of good statements!!!
A suggestions, how about just putting a couple statements so that people can read them and digest them?
I find that people don't appreciate things as much when there is too much to see, to read! so, maybe just to put a couple each day, so that everyday, we have something to reflect on!
