Usually a set of tires can last five years (especially winter tires), and if you buy a NEW car, and plan to use it for ten years, an extra set of manufacturer rim (Toyota, Honda, ect) is the best investment (although apparently it costs > 200 CAD more than generic, but the inconvenience, and may be extra money on balancing N times cost more. Like American cars are relatively cheaper than Japanese cars, but the maintenance cost after 4 years will start to kick in).
