Get rid of them ( to be) wherever you can. Use verbs and few passive statements of identity. To eliminate “is” will strengthen your thinking. Getting rid of “is” will make your writing clear and more enjoyable. You probably will not be able to eliminate all of them, but if you can, it will make significant difference.

Thesis

A thesis is the main idea of your paper. It states the contestable claim that you intend to develop in the body of your paper, your good reason and elements. It can also be called claim, and argument, position or proposition. you are writing an essay, you want to state your thesis clearly unambiguously in the introduction of your paper. So don’t delay and make a conclusion to find it.

中文(是)很進步，敘述句 (noun + be + adjective) 裡頭的 "是" 直接省掉。

一般指 critical analysis 是 critical thinking ，大約是 "博學審問、慎思明辨" 的事情。
說起來很容易，卻是畢生實力的累積與思考習慣、捷徑的養成。

Argument

Here the argument is in ancient traditional sense, Greek Aristotle wrote that an argument have two parts, claim (statement) and evidence. A claim is a statement that is contestable and that people may disagree. An argument with no evidence is no argument.

If you want people want to agree with your position or draw the conclusion, you need to provide clear contestable claim that support by good evidence and good reasoning.
