Health and safety officials are investigating an Aylmer pool where three young women were taken to hospital with respiratory problems Thursday evening.

Gatineau police say the three were at the Centre aquatique Paul Pelletier on Aylmer Road when they suffered “mild respiratory problems,” the cause of which still wasn’t clear on Friday morning.

The three are aged 16 to 20 and were training to work as lifeguards for the city.

Paramedics took them to the Hull Hospital as a precaution, but police said Friday they were in no danger.

Quebec occupational health and safety officials were notified, and were due to inspect the pool early Friday.

The pool was temporarily closed.
