One person was sent to hospital suffering from burns in the wake of a fire in the kitchen of a basement apartment.
Ottawa firefighters received an alarm call at about 1:32 p.m. Sunday afternoon from a home at 725 Bernard St. in the east end near St. Laurent Blvd.
Firefighters arrived at the scene eight minutes later and brought the fire under control within five minutes.
A fire investigator was on scene and the Ontario fire marshal will investigate.
Damage was estimated at about $20,000.
