A minor earthquake gave a gentle shake to Val-des-Bois and Notre-Dame-du-Laus at 2:38 a.m. Friday.
“There are no reports of damage, and none would be expected,” Natural Resources Canada reported after the earthquake, which had a magnitude of 2.8. However, it was strong enough for people to feel it.
Val-des-Bois, Que., was also the centre of the 2010 earthquake that shook this region much more heavily, with a magnitude of 5.0. Quakes in the range of 2 to 3 are fairly common in the region.
Val-des-Bois is a little more than an hour northeast of Ottawa.
