Go Sens Go!

I guess most of you would agree that the goaltending is the key in the playoff. Looking back to those cup winners, none of them didn't have a great goalie. Belfour, Hasek, Roy, Brodeur and the list goes on and on. But of Sens, I think it could be an exception. Sens could still have touched the cup with a mediocre goaltender simply because its superior offence power. Sens scored the most goals in the regular season among all the NHL teams. But when playoff kicked off, they got shut-out 3 times and the goaltender sometimes even performed worse than AHL player. What's the problem with them? I believe it's the mentality issue. From the coach to the player, they don't have that kind of mindset as Leafs do. This directly translated into soft play in the games. What's the solution? It has to be a big sugery to the team. Martin has fulfilled his mission here, he has brought the Sens to today's height and won't be able to make it any better. Lalime should be gone as well as some core players. This club needs more fighting spirit than skills right now.

Martin's fore-cheking strategy is effective in regular season because other teams are not cheking as hard. However, it is proved once again inefficient under high intensity playoff games.
Jacque Martine has done a great job for Ottawa, Sens management team and fans have given him great trust and respect for the past 8 years. But now, I also believe it's time for him to leave, that seems to be the only way to end Ottawa's playoff drought. Unfortunitely Lalime will be blamed forever for ottawa's loss this year, despite his impressive performance during the season. Alfferson needs to go as well, ottawa needs a spirited fighter as captain. Having said that, I hope the management team will keep the talented young guys: Hossa, Havlet, spezza, scheffer, white...

Avas has always been my favorite team after ottawa ends its short playoff season. Go AVAs Go!

Comparing the players at every positon, Avas seems to have edge over Red Wings. But somehow Avas did produce as much as they were supposed to. That's why I said either Avas or Wings.

The Ottawa Senators will not do any better than last year if they don't get a better goalie. but probably they will lose the good players like Hossa and Havlat before they can get a goalie like Theodore. even the Flames' goalie is better than Lalime. Lalime wasted all the hard work by the team and he owes the team a season and probably two Stanley Cups.

Precisely, it's extremely difficult to win a battle if one constantly worrying that his goalie might yet allow another cheap goal. Theodore is RED HOT again this playoff season, he always performs when the team needed him the most. I guess there's a lot truth to the old saying "playoff is what seperates men from boys".

1993, the canadiens didn't have a good team, not as good as this Senators team, but they won the Cup, why? because of Patrick Roy. The Senators have been in the playoff for 6 years out of 11 years of the franchise, you think they don't have experiences?

Correct me if I am wrong, I remeber Habs had a strong team in 93, they had Damphusse, Sundin and Roy. Damphusse was superb that year. Almost as good as super mario.

Sundin was never a Habs, Damphousse was playing at Edmonton. 93 Habs had Roy, Mike Kean, Guy Carbonneau. A good solid team without super stars.

Thanks for pointing out, Sundin was the part I am not too sure, I think he was playing for the other quebec team at the time, was he playing for Nordic in 93? That's probably why I was mixed up. But I am pretty sure Damphousse was with Habs when they won the stanleys in 93, he was the super star for Habs.

Kirk Muller, Denis Savard, John LeClair,Eric Desjardine, Brian Bellow

WOW, all those guys were on the team that year.

I still remembered Jacque Demer called the referee to chekc Marty McSorley's stick, because it was longer than the standard stick.

Re: Patrick Lalime

Flyers indeed did a great job solving Belfour, much much better than what Sens did. But I still think it's early to claim Leafs' exit in this series. Comparing with game 1, I think Leafs played much better and they actually created more scoring opportunities than Flyers. But it seems the hockey god was just not there with them. Did you see the glove save by Flyer's goalie in the final minute? It was pure luck, since he had no way to see the puck.

I would see Leafs even things up in Toronto. But honestly, I don't feel as confiedent as before for Leafs now. Just one thing for sure, the series will go into at least the 6th game.

I had number of comments regarding to 马碳's firing, however I couldn't find this thread at all. Does anyone know what happend to this thread for the past few days?

Re: Re: Re: Re: Patrick Lalime
