No, stand by me is not good enough. Each one of us should voice our complaint to CBC and CRTC, or else they will not take the matter seriously.

I urge everyone to write a short complaint, it takes no time. Bottom line, give CBC some color to see see.

I just submitted my article following the instructions provided by you friends:

The program on IOC's anti-doping seems to have implied the Chinese Champion Liu Xiang has something to do with prohibited drug so as to achieve this rare moment, and nothing has yet prove this ( I don't think anything will ever). I just think as the biggest media like CBC, this kind of plotting is very inappropriate and unprofessional, not to mention many Chinese/ Asian audience will be offended by it in this lovable immmigration nation. No Asian people have achieved such success in Track and Field before, it's a huge breakthrough...so if one can't have the courtesy to congratulate, maybe at least show some respect to truth? We need to remember, Olympic is about competition, but it's more about "all" human being's improvement. I, as a proud Chinese, cheer for every medals of Canada, and feel for every miss of their endeavors during this past Games. I believe Canada can definitely do better next time, and every country can do better next time.

btw,师长,I just found there are several sloppiness (misspelling) in your writing, like athletes...I didn't check so much but it happened to catch my eyes. I am not good at English either, but I thought we want to be impeccable when writing these kinda stuff, 不能让他们笑话我们.

Well said!

CBC is not being honest.
Until proven guilty, one remains innocent. It is highly irresponsible not to mention misleading of CBC to show a snapshot of a well respected athlete like Liu Xiang in a program entitled "Doping".
How would you feel if your picture is shown among the Most Wanted announcement while you are a law-abiding citizen?

What he said is right. Olymics has become a game of chemicals decades ago.

Don't get caught, that's what is all about.

CBC was just being honest.

I don't know if we are talking about the same CBC program...

If we are, I don't think there is any innuendo between Liu Xiang's performance and doping in the program...I might be wrong though.

Liu Xiang's snapshot was used in the program, coming with the sanpshot, the commentator said something like this -- Liu breaks the Olympic Record and ties the World Record...but in this game(26th Olympic), not a lot of records have been broken since there were set in 80s --doping years...

That was not true! At least couples of swimming records were broken during this game, by Americans and others.
Why don't they show it?

I could not find that documentry online, if someone does or someone taped that program, could you please put the links here?

But I found this instead...CBC did give Liu Xiang the credits...

China wins hurdles, 10,000 m; Canada's Allen 6th

Last Updated: Sat Aug 28 09:16:18 EDT 2004

CBC SPORTS ONLINE - China's future in track and field suddenly looked brighter Friday as two of the country's young runners won gold in Athens.

Liu Xiang won the men's 110-metre hurdles and compatriot Xing Huina won the women's 10,000 metres.

Canadian Charles Allen's surprising run at the Games ended when he finished sixth in the 110-metre hurdles final with a time of 13.48 seconds.

The time was well off his personal best of 13.23, which he set in the semifinals Thursday.

Liu captured the gold medal in that event with a time of 12.91, setting an Olympic record and tying a world record.

American Terrence Trammell (13.18) claimed the silver and Anier Garcia (13.20) of Cuba took the bronze.

Allen set three personal bests en route to the final, which he ran 80 minutes after competing in the 4x100-metre relay qualication.

"I came out and did the best I could," Allen said. "I felt some cramping in my leg in the warm-up area [before the hurdles] and I couldn't get rid of it. But I decided to buckle up and go."

Allen didn't meet Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) standards in the men's 110-metre hurdles and headed to Athens as a member of the relay squad. However, Allen was able to compete in the hurdles because he met the Olympic qualifying standard.

The COC has recently come under fire for introducing tough new qualifying standards but Allen said he has no complaints.

"The standards are there for a reason," he said. "I think because of those standards I raised my level of training."

Commenting on the hurdles final, CBC analyst Michael Smith described Liu's performance as perhaps the best hurdles race ever run.

Liu led the race almost from the start and maintained his rhythm while his competitors struggled.

Liu became the first Chinese man to win an Olympic track and field title. He also broke an Olympic record set by American Allen Johnson in 1996.

Johnson was touted as a medal favourite heading into the Games, but didn't compete in the final. He crashed out of competition earlier in the week.

Ethiopian women finished second and third behind Xing in the 10,000 metres. Ejegayehu Dibaba (30:24.98) won the silver medal and Derartu Tulu (30:26.42) claimed the bronze.

Great Britain's popular distance runner Paula Radcliffe didn't finish the race. She also dropped out of the women's marathon earlier in Athens.
