More accurately say, it's the begin or end of a car sale year. New models come into market in fall, say Sept and Oct. if you buy a new car in November, or in winter, it's the model of next year. You will see more difficulties to negotiate the price with the dealers. on the other hand , if you buy a new car in August or Sept, it is the model of the existing year and no more of that model is coming, so the dealers are more likely give you a bigger discount. otherwise, if the new year model comes, they will risk more difficulties to sell the old year model car.

Then the difference is how long you will keep the car before you resell it, because the used car price depends significantly on the year. As the years accumulate, the difference approaches less and less. Therefore, if you consider to resell the car in 5 years, you had better buy in fall or winter. if you want to drive it for ten years, buy one at the end of the sale season, summer or early fall. you may get thousands more discount. This Oct, Dodge Caravan gives as high as 6000 discount at the last weeks of the sale reason.

我买车的时候，车行的销售人员告诉我，一年中过完元旦后到三月底是二手车销售最便宜的时候，多有打折。因为刚过完双节，又不到春暖花开的游玩季节，人群购买欲是最低的时候，为了收回资金，所以卖价最低。

If you are buying 2005 model now, it is much cheaper as 2006 model is already in market.

Another thing to watch out is to cmpare the interests rate, as it may be a big difference if you intend to get a loan.

I will buy it before the year end and get the next year modle.

I brought my Car last year in November, and it's year 2005 model. I have drove it for a year already, when I sell it, I will be able to say my car is year 2005 which mean I have drove a year for free.

So if you buy now, get a year 2006 model.

depans you want to buy the new or used, new car, if you want to own, 2005 new is the best choice, because the 2005 new it's the time for clearence, if you want to lease, 2006 new is the best, because this time you could have higt residual vale, it means low month payment.and also the end of year there is a lot of incentive, like GM they have ring & win, and if yoy want to buy the same year used , winter is the low price season just for your reference
