Even Nortel filied bankcruptcy protection, I bet there will be less than 40% of Nortel employee who will lose their jobs, the reason is clear that Ericsson/Nokia/Huawei will catch up these existing business.

Of these 1600 people, who willl leave ottawa will be less than 30%, the reason: some of them will get other jobs in Ottawa eventually, some of them won't move since the spouse still has job here.

The family will leave Ottawa will be less than 500, and it will span next 1~3 years, the impact will be very limited.

it is a crazy world. unemployment is going up (-45,000 statistic Canada), personal bankruptcy is going up (+50%, statistic Canada), mortgage rate is going up (0.75%, major banks), ... and now old house price is going up (1.2%, oreb). It is crazy enough.

Agree !! Nobody could be 100% correct on forecast. Dr. Doom was right on the first wave of economic crisis; he also said S&P 500 would drop to 600 or below. His second forecast has not occured yet, but we still think he is a good economist.

For those who were bullish on the real estate market, we wish you have capitalized on your forecast. After all, to toss a die is easy, but to do it on a gambling table needs courage.

We should welcome all kinds of opinions.
