if you send email from your 'outlook' and 'request receipt' , but the recipient only access his/her gmail account from the gmail website....

so, you will never know if he/she receive the email or not, right?

that's what happened to me...I reconfigure my outlook and download emails, only find out a very important email ask for a 'receipt', but I already read it in my gmail many days ago. what should I do? if I say yes, it will leave a very bad impression to the sender:'how come this person only read her email now? especially for important matter". if I didn't say yes, then what the sender will wonder with its email? :( or should I write an email to explain the situation?

you should have a choice that read email without sending 'request receipt' in your outlook. many many people set in this way by outlook default setting. not a big trouble.
