Please Stop the Current Regulation on Traditional Chinese Medicine Practice
To the Legislative Assembly of Ontario:
WHEREAS, Ontario Regulation 27/13 will effectively destroy the practice of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in Ontario, leaving countless patients with limited or no choice in managing their personal health.
WHEREAS, OR 27/13 requires that a) TCM records and prescriptions must appear in English, French or Latin, resulting in miscommunication which could be harmful to patients. b) More than 90% of common ailments can no longer be treated by TCM doctors c) TCM doctors cannot sell their essential herbal medications and supplements d) They must acquire an extensive knowledge of western medical theory, whereas western doctors "qualify" in TCM after only dozens hours' training.
We, the undersigned, petition the Legislative Assembly of Ontario as follows:
We call on the Government of Ontario to uphold the long-held status, and value to the community, of verifiably licensed TCM doctors. And immediately stop and review the current destructive regulation. At the same time, we urge an innovative and fair regulation designed to protect and benefit both patients and practitioners.

Please Stop the Current Regulation on Traditional Chinese Medicine Practice which will effectively destroy the practice
To the Legislative Assembly of Ontario:
WHEREAS, Ontario Regulation 27/13 is a draconian measure which will effectively destroy the practice of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in Ontario, leaving countless patients and adherents with limited or no choice in the matter of their own health management and well-being.
WHEREAS, Intervention by the LAO is sought, in order to maintain the integrity and safeguard the ancient and proven methods of legitimately qualified TCM practitioners; at the same time, the appropriate, reasonable and fair protection of both the public and practitioners must be ensured.
WHEREAS, OR27/13 requires that a) TCM records and prescriptions must be written in English, French or Latin. Due to the unique nature of both the practice of TCM and the Chinese language, much of the meaning of these scripts will be lost in translation, to the potential peril of patients. b) TCM doctors are deprived the right to treat in excess of 90% of health-related conditions. c) TCM doctors are forbidden to sell Chinese herbal medications and health supplements, which has been integral to the TCM doctors for centuries. d) TCM doctors must acquire an extensive knowledge of western medical theory. Obversely, western doctors may "qualify" in TCM after only decades of hours of instruction. This is not only adulterates the quality of Chinese medicinal practice but also jeopardize to the safety of patients. e) Bona fide, licensed TCM doctors will be barred from serving most current patients which actively seeks them out. Failure to comply will result in fines from $25000 to $50 000 and/or a two-year prison sentence.
We, the undersigned petition the Legislative Assembly of Ontario as follows:
We call on the government of Ontario to recognize, respect and maintain the long-held status and value of verifiably licensed TCM doctors, and immediately strike down the current destructive regulation. At the same time, we urge an innovative and fair regulation designed to protect and benefit both patients and practitioners.
