这个我也明白，如果只是因为难读倒是也无所谓，关键是我儿子的名的拼音，刚好和一个英语不好的单词差一个字母，而且读音基本相同，所以很容易有歧义。

也许你理解错误那是个good word呢？

非常感谢你的回答，你的意思是先给学校提供个英文名字，然后等到健康卡过期的时候去改名字？请问下你当时是怎么改的？国内应该用不着改吧，就是他护照上还是以前的名字。

If your kid go to school before his name officially changed, you can provide the same name that can be used in school for later transferred smoothly. Not for the paper, only for his/her peers wouldn't notice the change later. By the way, if you keep the certificate of name changed, no trouble at all due the change (my child is in university now, there is not many paper work to update for a little kid). we only provided it couple times for any paper update. it would be much more convenient than people having an English name and A Chinese name. You could change the last name too at the same time if you don't mind. In my family, each member has only one name, either in Chinese or English both in official and in daily. To me, it's very awkward to introduce myself in my work, like, Hello, my English name is xxx, my Chinese name is yyyyy, at the second day, the administrator comes to you to confirm which name she needs to put in your paper, and on and on in my life.... . I am more practical person.

Simply for the sake of convenience, anyone could have an English or French name as a preferred first name. I have not seen any problem at all. By doing so, one would have his/her butt covered at the same time.

first, follow the process of Service Ontario to apply the change of name. After you received the certificate, you don't need to update any document/paper right away, only when you need or any paper is expired, then you can provide this certificate with others as it needs.
