We (a group of 5 couples) went to 天?酒? for dinner tonight. I have to tell you that this restaurant is the worst Chinese restaurant I have tried. It is not worth the money for the food offered.
I tell you what we ordered:
Appetizer:
1. Cold plate - stewed beef 剪?牛肉
2. Cold plate - Sweet & spicy cucumber
3. Cold plate - ?拌海蜇
剪?牛肉 is so dry. It tastes like the beef has been stored in the fridge for more than a week.
Main Course:
1. BBQ duck 烤?
2. Spicy chicken (diced)
3. 剪?酤 (I forgot the name of the fish)
4. Stir-fry Shanghainese vegetable (only two types of vegetable you can choose - brocoli or Shanghainese veggie; This will never happen in Chinese restaurants downtown. How can they do business?)
5. 酸辣茄子
6. 麻婆豆腐
7. Noodles in a soup (very oily)
Dessert:
芝麻??
Our comments:
------------
All of the dishes are cooked with excessive oil. Even the stir-fry veggie is so greasy that I even pick one up to eat.
The fish is a frozen one and it smelt so bad and not fresh.
酸辣茄子tastes is so weird that half plate is still there.
麻婆豆腐 is the worst I have tried. The tofu is not fresh at all.
The only one I can eat is the spicy chicken. That one is the only dish that is edible.
Oh. One more thing. The BBQ duck charges us $28, but only one eating method. (Normally it should be eaton with two eating methods.)
The rice is of warm temperatue. When the rice is not hot, it doesn't taste good.
The temperature of the food is also warm and not hot. With all the excessive oil covering the food and warm temperature, I lost my appetize already. I went home and have to eat instant noodles.
Worst thing is you pay a lot of money for the food and you don't get good food and services. The bill for us to pay is $155. With tax, we paid $170. (We feel reluctantly to pay tips. But we paid any way.)
My final comments:
-----------------
All the dishes are so oily that I got scared off. I went home after dinner and I have to eat instant noodles since I am still hungry.
Anyway, if I go out to eat Chinese food, I will not go to 天?酒?. Any Chinese restaurants on Summerset (Chinatown) is way better than 天?酒? in terms of price, food quality and services. But I have to admit that the waitress are beautiful than most of the waitress I have seen in most of the Chinese restaurants in China town.
