I was saying: "The question is not about whether Terri Schiavo has the right to live or die, but rather who gets to decide". People seem to have a strong feeling about this, argueing that only God not humans get to decide one's ultimate fate, but there are people, humans, around us that get to play God all the time, like judges, doctors and politicians. Why do we ignore a prisoner on death row but pay this much attention on this particular case? Is it just because that Terri Schiavo's feeding tube is being so visually symbolized as her LIFE and that the removal of this tube is both visually and mentally impacting?
I guess what I don't understand is why this case had generated this much interest. Is Terri Schiavo really that much different from say a trauma patient in a local ER undergoing a life-saving/life-threatening procedure? Does a patient clinging to his/her life in the local ER has the luxury (or "right") to decide for his/her own what they'd like to be done on them?
