I have new grass last summer, it grow well until last friday after big rain, lots of grass begin yellow. Please does any one know what wrong? Is it possible caused by white grub, but the grass only the second years? I have dig out a hole and did not find white grub. please help!!!
nothing wrong, it is not only your lawn , it is every body's lawn turn yelllow. Grass would go dormant in hot weather, it turns yellow. It is not dead. It would turn green when temperature goes down and few good rain. Usually grass go dormant in July in ottawa if you don't water them. But this year, May is hot. So they go dormant. Don't worry, they are fine. Deep water them. They would back to green.

Thanks Tim. Your comment make me feel better. I water the grass twice a week, what worry me is it turn yellow immediatlly in just two day and the yellow grass spread in different place, not the whole part grass become yellow. Very similar as white grub did (My grass have white grub im my old house), but I am not sure. Just feel strange. Today I found the grass looks better, maybe because the temperature goes down.
Not a problem. Just run them over with lawnmower. It usually happen to new house with new lawn. Builder put new soil with lot of compost in it. It would grow some mushroom at first year. After first year the compost is run out. It would not happen again.
It is not 100 percent science. You have to do it according to weather.
What happen is. The grass we have is called cold weather grass; it would stop growing when weather is hot and dry. It goes dormant and would turn brown. You never cut dormant grass.
If you keep water them in hot weather like every other day or we get a wet summer, grass would still grow and green. You cut them if they are not dormant.
