You might have got a wrong person to answer your call. Or Policy changed?! I passed through the Alexandria Bay in August 30, and I did not send these documents in advance.

People who just exported vehicles through Alexandria Bay over the Thanks-giving day can give you more accurate info about this.

How can there be two MCO original copies?!

agree. I just phoned, was told no need for 72 hr for new car. only need certificate of origin.

You need to pay state tax in this situation only: You will register the new car in the same state as that the dealer located.

经过一周的努力, 和楼上的指点谜津, 终于在美国买到了2008 SIENNA LE. 明天, 保险公司 发FAX 给DEALER, 下周一就可提车了. 今天, 让DEALER把MCO 准备好. 他们说" OF COURSE". 似乎, 该MCO 就在他们的手上.

了解了目前的形势, 找DEALER 尽量避免在和CANADA 接壤的STATES, 象 NEW YORK, MAINE 等等. 我找到的DEALER 开车要7 个小时的路程. 我在 PENNSYIVANIA, NEW JERSEY 和 CONNECTICUT 分别找到了一家DEEALER 说可卖车给CANADIAN. 在第一家, 开始一切正常, 定价, 试车, 填表等. 当送入电脑时, POP UP 一个WARNING 说不能卖给CANADIAN BUYERS. 看来, 多数SALESMEN 不知道目前的形势, 也不知道加元升值到和美金持平. 所以, SALESMEN 说车可以卖给你, 你也不能全信. 好在第二家, 一切都很顺利, 到目前为止. 就是, 由于有第一次的阴影, 没敢过多得讲价, 只求能卖就行, 并且, 时间太晚, 临近关门了.

如要知该车行, 和第三家车行, 请QQH. 对不起, 不宜公布车行给大家, 否则, 询问电话太多, 车行会有所警觉和厌倦, 最终也会不卖车给CANADIAN.

这个周一, 我的SIENNA 终于挂上了安省的LICENCE PLATE.

回想一个月来的辛苦历程, 除劳心劳力是大家公认的外，我又历经了11个小时的GREY HOUND 和滞留美国3天之苦. 但算下来, 扣除一切与之相关的费用, 和在CANADA DEALER 得到的BARGAIN后价格相比还要节省$11300. 你们说值得还是不值得?!

有两个环节上, 我耽误了很多时间, 也费了精力和金钱, 希望以此为鉴.

一是, 72 小时提前报美国关。从各种渠道来的消息, 包括给BORDER 打电话，都说新车不用72 小时提前报关，可是，轮到我时，规定改了！有人建议我把车开回CANADA ，三天后再回该关卡。我觉得不妥，好象有违美国的法律。不能一棋走错，全盘皆输。

二是，RECALL CLEARANCE LETTER。多次打电话给RIV，她/他们都说：新车的VEHICLE INQUIRY REPORT 也可以，如没有 RECALL CLEARANCE LETTER。当然，打电话时，选MENU 1，询问的是咨询人员。当我把VEHICLE INQUIRY REPORT 传给他们，打电话选MENU 2 时，办事员却不认识，也不承认它。只好从TOYOTA 要了RECALL CLEARANCE LETTER。

最近，从美国进口汽车的案例大大增加，新的规定也相应得出台，无论是在美国还是在加拿大。对新的规定，不同的人会有不同的理解，需要一段时间去磨合。所以还是以原始的一般规则为本为上策。

2. Should I declare the bankdraft(over $10000) to the us customs?

1. There shouldn't be any problems to fly to US using an one-way ticket. Just tell the US border officer that you are going to pick up and export a car and show him /her your bill of sales. This is what I did (flight to US using an one-way tickect).

2. You should declare your bankdraft at the border.
