1. There shouldn't be any problems to fly to US using an one-way ticket. Just tell the US border officer that you are going to pick up and export a car and show him /her your bill of sales. This is what I did (flight to US using an one-way tickect).

2. You should declare your bankdraft at the border.

Last time, I asked the officer in Canadian border show me what brand name car need pay Green Levy. It seems that Subraru is not on the list.

I don't think so. Otherwise, they won't ban their US dealers to sell vehicles to Canadians. As I understand, they only distribute vehicles to dealers through their regional Sales Distributors. But you can try to see if they deal with individuals.
 
Does anybody have information about the US dealers who might still be able to sell Toyota cars to Canadians?

这个周一, 我的SIENNA 终于挂上了安省的LICENCE PLATE.

回想一个月来的辛苦历程, 除劳心劳力是大家公认的外,我又历经了11个小时的GREY HOUND 和滞留美国3天之苦. 但算下来, 扣除一切与之相关的费用, 和在CANADA DEALER 得到的BARGAIN后价格相比还要节省$11300. 你们说值得还是不值得?!

有两个环节上, 我耽误了很多时间, 也费了精力和金钱, 希望以此为鉴.

一是, 72 小时提前报美国关。从各种渠道来的消息, 包括给BORDER 打电话,都说新车不用72 小时提前报关,可是,轮到我时,规定改了!有人建议我把车开回CANADA ,三天后再回该关卡。我觉得不妥,好象有违美国的法律。不能一棋走错,全盘皆输。

二是,RECALL CLEARANCE LETTER。多次打电话给RIV,她/他们都说:新车的VEHICLE INQUIRY REPORT 也可以,如没有 RECALL CLEARANCE LETTER。当然,打电话时,选MENU 1,询问的是咨询人员。当我把VEHICLE INQUIRY REPORT 传给他们,打电话选MENU 2 时,办事员却不认识,也不承认它。只好从TOYOTA 要了RECALL CLEARANCE LETTER。

最近,从美国进口汽车的案例大大增加,新的规定也相应得出台,无论是在美国还是在加拿大。对新的规定,不同的人会有不同的理解,需要一段时间去磨合。所以还是以原始的一般规则为本为上策。

例如,Toyota Sienna, 同样的配置,加拿大要43,000,美国则只需要31,000 (美国售价 + 加拿大GST + 加拿大PST)
