赤脚医生制度在全民中普及了医药卫生知识，各种版本的赤脚医生手册极大丰富了普通民众的知识视野，打消了医生的神圣光环，医生大夫宁有种乎观念深入人心，学医从不敢为到人人可为。

医生这种职业还是该神圣点好，西方不是要求有个行医执照什么的，有个专业委员会替百姓把个关是很有必要的。

缺乏实践，学校又被资产阶级知识分子统治。亦不满大跃进后国家发展侧重城市
，忽视农村。所以文革期间毛便推动城市知识分子“上山下乡”，工业政策侧重
内陆（大三线），提高农村医疗水平（赤脚医生）。取消专科中学，大力提升普
通中学学额，普通初中入学率达80%至90%，及到后来，甚至大学停招四年，至1970年
才重新招生，招生又只招“工农兵”等激进政策。
