认识的很多人，进政府，图 的啥，就是稳定，尤其中国人做HI－TECH的多，要说技术，政府的技术有啥干头，我老公就觉得特BORING，上班时间还不能上网，可是也得呆着，为了一家的生活，实在给前几年失业搞怕了，那种压力，当地的非移民是不能体会的。如果在政府很牛工资很高的，也不愁在PRIVATE找不到，但中国移民象这么牛的不是那么多。在政府干其它的比如行政，经济的确很不错，可是中国人干这个的不多。CCC说对了，＂上进心＂，不是我等移民现在追求的目标了。我们第一代移民，生存排在了发展的前面。再有上进心，你的背景和语言就注定了你很难成为赢家。我好多年前QUIT在OU读书接受了现在公司OFFER的时候，心理还是很难受的，可是现在想想也是对的，要不然我们夫妇和孩子哪里有现在的生活。我现在公司的OFFICE工作也就是当地高中毕业生就可以做的，我们最大的老板总是说。你有DEGREE，英语又那么好，为什么不去做更好的职位呢，比如去政府做翻译什么的，我就问他＂你有什么好机会介绍给我吗＂，老板就哈哈笑。当地人哪能体会我们移民的无奈呢。所以我相信，很多人进去政府，主要是为了生活，应该不是为了＂上进心＂。

"3 weeks holiday for less than 7 years(including)" -- These are vacation days.

1 day personel day

3 weeks sick day per year(could forward to next year)" -- These are NOT holidays, which include Canada Day, Labour Day, Xmas, Boxing Day, etc. These are on top of the holidays, I guess.

I still don't know how many holidays they have per year, though.

But this is ridiculous! - "3 weeks sick day per year (could forward to next year)"

In my opinion, they can have this maximum number of sick days taken per year. But this number of sick days shall not be carried forward to the next year if one does not get sick during the year, or, in other words, shall not be accumulated from year to year at all. In this case, one could have a few months of accumulated sick leave days over time. This is totally bull-shit!

Our company also has a few fluent bilingual girls. I know some other bilingual girls who are working in private businesses.But they earn much less than those are in government. Government job means: less job, more money. especially those positions not requiring degrees.

我在私人公司，25天假/年，今年好用歹用，到现在了，还剩100多小时没用，正不知如何打发呢。新移民，除了夏天戡平2周，平常孩子生病用两天，其他还怎么用假期？

自然政府工的好处是假期可以take over，也可以换钱。我们不行，除非被解雇时结账。

就是说，你有三周（１５天）休假，两周（１０天）假日。这是安省一些公司的通常做法。

我工作的公司，每个月可以请病假最多三天。但是，不能累计，也不可以转到下个月或以后用。有病则休，无病不能拿来做休息日。连续请病假超过三天（也可能是五天），必须有医生的信件。

that's very true. If your children are not good at studying, make sure they are real bilingual, at least there is a chance to have a gov job.

I having been working for 2 of them, both private, small companies. Enjoyed my time there.
Much better than a public sector, from which I quit without finishing my probation.
Don't be "眼红" for public sector, they pay you for wasting your life. When your grandchildren ask you what did you do before retire, I guess what you can say would be "I had been accumulating pension for many years, that's all about it". What a shame, even your 4 year old grandchild would not be proud of you.

我在FED干了一年多，觉得学到了不少东西，至少没觉得是在浪费时间。以前在公司里也觉得挺好，但出差太多，对家庭生活多少有些影响。

HOLIDAY是11天，VACATION是15天（可最多CARRY FORWARD15天），病假15天（可CARRY FORWARD)，其他7天（不能FORWARD)。

个人觉得病假可CARRY FORWARD也是合理的，本来就是备不时之需，没病当然不用休，但过期作废也显得不太合理。我一个同事夏天的时候摔了胳膊，休了一个月左右。
